This is Count Basey Square at Port Lucaya, Bahamas.

This is a picture of Golden Beach. The same beach where parts of The Pirates at the Caribbean parts 2 and 3 were filmed. When it is low tide most of this picture would be a rippled white sandy beach.

This is a photo I took at twilight and had to alter it a bit with Photoshop Elements.

As the sunsets and my holiday organization and planning time dwindles I just wanted to share a few thoughts with you.

I have met so many wonderful crafters recently and I am so blessed for that. I appreciate all the inspiration that they provide me with.

I am not sure how many, if any posts, I will be getting in until after the holiday so I just wanted to wish everyone a Happy Holiday, Merry Christmas and Happy, Healthy New Year.

Green Christmas ornaments

These ornaments are made from plastic fruit cups. When my children eat a fruit cup for a snack, I keep the plastic cups and wash them out.

For this project I painted them with silver paint. When dry I drilled a small hole in the top to insert a ribbon so that I could hang it on the tree. Then I embellish it with ribbon, punched out leaves, old fake berries and holly that my mom had saved and in one case crystal effects and glitter.

The final touch is to add a charm that hangs by a white thread.

Another option would be to drill the hole a bit bigger so that you could put a light from a strand of Christmas lights through it. Then you could have a strand of bells that light up.

The next ornament that I have been making is made from the tube of the paper towel. I flattened the tube and cut the tube into 1/2 inch strips. Then I took my gesso and painted all the circles to make them stronger. Once they were dry then I sewed on some beads. The final step is to use red sticky tape to attach the petals and add a thread to hang it by.

How to create Coffee Filter Flowers

One of the Create It Green followers had asked for a tutorial on how to make these coffee filter flowers so I thought maybe others would like to know too.

You will start with a regular coffee filter. You can recycle the one that you used in your coffee maker, just through the grinds in the compost and rinse it off and dry it.

If you don't use a coffee maker on a regular basis, take a coffee filter and soak in either tea or coffee. The tea makes a lighter tan. Then let it dry.

Once the filter is dry cut out the middle like in this picture. Then take a needle and thread and do a whip stitch where I have made the lines with a marker. When all the way around pull the string tight and it will give you the petals. The outside part will make a flower like the pink one and the inside circle will make one like the dark purple one.

Tie your thread off. Then I just rubbed some ink on the edges to give it some color. The chalk inks work the best on this. Then the final touch is the button. You may either glue it on or use embroidery floss to sew it on.

Create It Green Christmas Blog Hop

This first card is made with parts of the box that held candy canes. The scallops and the main image are from the candy cane box. I used vintage lace and a Christmas sticker that came with labels in the mail. I roughed up the edges a bit and added some brown ink to try to make it look old.

This next card was made using parts of vintage jewelry. I went to the antique store not long ago and they were selling bags of old costume jewelry and other little bits in the bag. So I bought some and took all the jewelry apart so that I could use them in different projects. I believe the plaid circle used to be a part of a button. The wreath was an earring. The image is a scrap piece of part with a sticker for the saying. The chipboard ornament is left over from last year. I painted the ornament with gesso ( which is what artists use to prepare a canvas before painting) and then added glitter before it dried.

Making Embellishments

These are some of the embellishments I have been making. The white one is even made from a used dryer sheet. The fabric is from Heather Bailey.

I have also used some of my scrap felt to make some of these embellishments. I used embroidery floss and beads to dress them up. My son even made me the heart.

Hi there,
I am sorry I have been so busy with planning for the Create It Green blog hop this coming Saturday that I have neglected my blog.

Our family is also starting to count down for our trip to the Bahamas soon.

A challenge and so many new things

Yesterday was a nice rainy day which made a great day to recover from Halloween and a day to create.

I have gotten so many new things in this past month but have not had the time of desire to play with them. So yesterday was that day.

I have become a great admirer of Melissa Phillips at Lilybean's Paperie and Sherry Wright at Seasons of Change that I just had to purchase some of the products they use like Melissa Frances products and Cavallini Papers.

This first card is a combination of those products. The background paper is an unknown paper that I picked up at a scrapbook store. The birds are from Cavallini Papers. I took the negative part of chipboard and painted it with gesso and added some white glitter on top of the wet gesso. The flower in the corner is from a ribbon that I picked up at Walmart's fabric department. The leaves around it are made with a Martha Stewart punch and I punched the packaging that it came in.

The final touches are a resin rose from Melissa Frances, faux pearls and some prima roses.
This is the close up.

The next card was made using some recycled products. I made this card for Stamptacular Sunday's challenge. The image is from Whiff of Joy. The designer paper is recycled paper from K & Company's Carolyn Gavin. The rub on saying and the glittery apples are also from Carolyn Gavin's recycled products.

Either later today or tomorrow, I will show you some of the projects I have made with my new cricut expression.

Handmade felt flower

I recently discovered Heather Bailey's website and could not resist purchasing some of her felt, fabric and scrapbook supplies. The colors are so bright and vibrant.

I purchased her template on how to make the Felt flower and when I received it yesterday, I just had to make one.

I did add my own touch to it with some white tulle. The button is a vintage button that my mother had saved.

I think I will make one for each person I give a Christmas gift to. I can use this on a scrapbook page, as a hair clip or pin.

Soda can Background with Packing Peanut flower

This is a card that I made for Creatively-Green with a soda can and a packing peanut flower.
The soda can was cut up and embossed with the cuttlebug folder then colored with Generation Colorant. For future use I would add the colorant to the Generation Green paint because the colorant does come off on your hands when dry.

The packing peanuts are flatten on one side to make individual petals.

I really should have taken more time to punch more holes closer together so that the stitching looked a bit better.

Once again, I hope I have inspired you to look at things around you and use them in your crafts.

Soda can Embellishment with Generation Green Colorant

I made this card for 2 Sketches 4 You challenge #36. I also wanted to demonstrate a use for Creatively-Green product Generation Green Colorant, which is an earth friendly product.

My pumpkin, which is a piece of soda can, is cuttlebugged and then die cut. Then I took my yellow and red Generation Green colorant and combined them to make an orange color. I then sponged it on to the aluminium from the soda can and let it dry. I then combined the blue and yellow to make a green and painted the leaf. Once again I combined colors to create a brownish color for the stem. I scrapped off a bit of the green on the leaf to make it look aged.

The stitched background was created by using Angels Landing's pierced digital background. I poked the holes and used four different colors of embroidery floss.

I hope that you are inspired to try this.

A Little Halloween Witchyness

Jean Marie , a member of the Creatively-Green message board shared some fun Halloween labels with us. She recycled some CDs and made them into coasters.

So this is my attempt at using one of these labels. The image is a cameo from Sassy Studio Designs. The spider is a stamp from Inkadinkadoo stamps.
On the inside is a sticker that says " Happy Halloween."

A Little Nutty

This is the way I feel sometimes with two children,two dogs, two chinchillas, two hamsters , one cat and one husband( whom is often like another child). This card is not my typical style so I guess you would say I am trying crafts out of my comfort zone.

The paper and chipboard came from Carolyn Gavin's K& Company paper. This line of paper is recycled. They even encourage you to reuse the package that it comes in. Nicole, the owner of Creatively-Green had mentioned that we will be carrying this product in the near future.

The image is a stamp called Forest Friends from The Greeting Farm. I colored the image with my Copic markers , air brushed and then sponged on the green.

Later this week, I will show you a project made using Generation Green Colorant and a soda can.

The Pumpkin Patch

I really was not sure how to do the hair for this little fellow.

Let it Snow

This is another image from Mo Manning at Digital Pencil Too. The saying is from Stampin UP!

I colored this image in with Copic markers. Then I made a mask and air brushed the blue background on. The snow at the bottom is liquid applique. The final touch was to add some stickles, which I painted on with a brush.

I am entering this in the CCEE Stampers challenge this week.

This rainy weekend, I actually got some projects done. So there will be much more to see this week.

A scrapbook page

I do not consider myself to be the best scrapbooker. I find a large area of paper to be intimidating. So when I get a page done it is very exciting to me.

The Fastpitch embellishments were from a pair of pajamas that my daughter had cut the legs off to make into shorts. I cut out the image, ironed it and then added ribbon stiffener. Then they are sewn on with the sewing machine.

The little softball players are digital images from Instyle rubber stamps.

I colored the digital images in with Copic markers.

I will now need to work on a page of my son.

Repurposed scrapbook page

I am not an expert scrapbooker but I was excited about this page. The flowers are made of fabric that I cut out of a scarf that my dog got from the groomer. Of coarse I washed it, ironed and added ribbon stiffener to it. The fabric flowers were then sewn on to the paper with a sewing machine.

My daughter does not like this picture of herself but I don't think there has ever been a bad picture of her.

I was thinking that scrapbooking has gotten away from the scrap part of it.

Green Halloween Treat Card

I am so excited about this project that I could not wait to show it to you. This card, though probably not my cutest, is made from a Del Monte fruit cup. I am even more excited because 1.) it did not cost me the $2.95 that Stampin Up! wants for it's sweet treat cups and 2.) I am recycling something that I would have put in the trash.

I started out by tracing around the cup to make a paper template. Then I got out my coluzzle and measured with my temple what size the very outside of the cup was. Then I moved in one line and cut our my circle. I used the fourth circle in on my coluzzle. Then I stamped the card with a stamp from Stampin UP!'s Baroque Motifs stamp set in old olive. I used a cuttlebug die-cut to make the stem of the pumpkin. The cup fits just perfectly in the hole so I did not need to glue it in but I did glue a piece of vellum over the top of the cup so my candy corn would not fall out.

I hope you like this project and that inspires you to use those empty fruit cups.

Eskimo holiday greetings

This is another image by Maurie J. Manning at Digital Pencil Too. This image is called Siku and Shiya.

Once again the image is colored in with Copic markers. I added some liquid applique on the bottom to appear as if they are standing in the snow. Then I rubbed some stickles around them to make it look like glittery snow coming down.

Then I added a few snowflakes that were die-cut using my sizzix die-cuts and the Big Shot.

Christmas fairy

I have become very addicted to the digital images by Maurie J Manning. You can find this image at Digital Pencil Too.

My son has been sick recently which means I have had to do things downstairs, away from my craft room. So this and several other projects, which I will post soon, are what I have been doing while he watches cartoons.

The Christmas fairy is colored with Copic markers, and some shimmerz were added to make her sparkle.

I used crystal effects on the snow globe to make it look more realistic.

Recycled Drink Tray

Today I was stuck babysitting my dog Nikita because my other dog was at the groomer's. Nikita gets very upset when Princess goes to the vet/groomer. While babysitting, I decided to try to create something with a Drink Tray that was waiting to go to the recycling bin.

It started off looking like this:

Then progressed to this:

Then I decided to cut down the sides to create a flower. Once that was done, I painted the cardboard with acrylic paint. I would love to use that new product that Creatively-Green plans to sell soon called Generation Green Acrylic paint with colorants. But that will be used the next time.

While waiting for the paint to dry. I came up with the idea to try to create my own version of the Flower soft product. So I took a piece of the cardboard and added pigment( water-based ink) to it to make it the color I wanted. Then I scraped it with a knife to make tiny bits.

And this is what my fingers looked like after.

So in the end, You finally get to see my finished project. I added brads to hold it together. And probably should have used one more color of paint to make some shading. I choose to keep the edges rough to make it appear more rustic.

Playing Around

I made this card using Inky Impression's stamp Lili's secret. I decided to play with gesso and create my own background paper.

I printed an image from my computer and painted gesso over it. Then I rubbed oil pastels on my fingers and rubbed it over the gesso. Then I stamped the image with a versa marker pad and a black ink pad. When stamped on the paper, I added clear embossing powder and heated.

The image was colored in with Copic markers. The gesso made it much easier to blend the colors. The lace was also colored with Copic markers.

I hope you like this unique creation.

I made this card for Inky Impression's Challenge this week. I made this card with the digital image that they provided. The image is colored with Copic markers and machine sewn on to handmade paper. Her dress and wings are on pop dots to give her some dimension.

This card was made using Maggie Lamarre's awesome digital design for the Cuttlebug Challenge this week.

I printed the image on very vanilla card-stock and cut it out. I then took my Copic markers and colored it in. It was then glued on to a Big Note die cut. The matte is a Basic Grey designer paper on top of a sahara sand card stock.
The saying is a rub on and along with my decorative corners, I added a brad.

The card is made using Stampin UP! card-stock colors, baja breeze, certainly celery, pixie pink and chocolate chip. The certainly celery designer paper is from Stampin UP! and the flowered paper is from Close to My Heart.

This card also is made for the Stamptacular Sunday Challenge because I added three brads, used two different patterned papers and have one flower on the card.

Patch work quilt card

I just could not wait to use my new Basic Grey lemonade paper pad to create something. My plan was to create a background that looks like a quilt. The paper was cut into 1"X1" squares and adhered to a piece of card-stock. Then I stitched around the squares with embroidery floss by hand.

I created this card with Inky Impressions Challenge in mind. I did not use the exact colors but similar ones. The image is Pen Pal from Sugar Nellie. The image was colored in using the copic shown in the picture.

Ribbons and patches- RV00, RV02 and W2 to create a shadow.

I also entered this card into the Midnight Madness Challenge.

Recycled card with soda can embellishment

This card is almost completely recycled. The mat is hand made paper with rose petals and leaves in it. The embellishment is made with a soda can.

To make the embellishment I cut out the top and bottom of the soda can and flatten it out. Be very careful that you don't cut your fingers on the edges. In this case I used my new Spellbinder die cut to cut the aluminium and then ran it through the cuttlebug. Then I painted it with ranger distress paint. After it dried , I added ultra thick clear embossing powder to it and then rubbed with brown stazon ink.

This is a card that I made for The Pink Elephant's challenge sketch this week. I stamped this image which is called Merrybell from Stamps happen,Inc. and colored it in with copic markers. The saying is from Stampin UP! The background paper is from Basic Grey.

In the Breeze

This card is made with a line art image from deviantART. I have seen a few other cards made with this image and had to try it. It also helps me practice my coloring with Copic markers.

The card base is bermuda bay with a matte of Whisper white and sky blue. As a background, I stamped Tres Chic in sky blue. The image is matted with barely banana. All Card stock is from Stampin Up!

Recycled pencil and marker holder

I save the carrying case that bottled soda comes in and turn it into a marker holder for my Copic markers. I also made one for all my colored pencils. It is great because each color family has a different section.

I made this using Stampin UP! designer paper and ribbon. I reinforced the bottom with an extra piece of scrap cardboard.

The final step in this project was to paint the carrier with a coat of Mod Podge.

A Rose is a Rose

I have seen the re-inker watercolor technique on many cards and just had to try it. The stamp set is Fifth Avenue Floral by Stampin Up!. I used two of the new In Colors to create the colors on the roses. The colors I used are Melon Mambo and Crushed Curry.

I found a great tutorial on-line at Patty's Stamping Spot.

I love this technique and you will most likely be seeing a few more cards using this technique.

Tomorrow I will show you one of my recycling projects.

A New Beginning

Hello there and Welcome to my new creation.
I decided to create a new blog that will be done completely by me. This will save me money and then anything that is on it is created or set up by me.

The images above are photos of some of my latest flowers. The red flower is a Rose Mallow and the other is a sunflower just about ready to bloom. I played with the sunflower a bit on Adobe Photoshop Elements.
